On the early morning of Saturday, an unfortunate event unfolded on the San Diego (405) Freeway, situated within the Sherman Oaks region. The incident transpired around 3:30 a.m., as reported by the California Highway Patrol, and was located on the northbound stretch of the freeway, positioned south of Burbank Boulevard and close to the Ventura (101) Freeway. Initial reports from authorities indicate that a Mazda sedan was involved in a solitary collision that left it stranded in a lane facing the opposite direction. Following this, a Ford sport utility vehicle contacted the disabled sedan, and subsequently, another Toyota sport utility vehicle collided with it directly from the front. This sequence of events led to the instant fatality of the Mazda sedan’s driver, who was later confirmed to be Brittany Anthony, a 33-year-old female. Regrettably, no details regarding her place of residence were provided by the County of Los Angeles Medical Examiner during the identification process.

As the investigation continued, the California Highway Patrol highlighted that the operator of the Toyota SUV was taken into custody for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol.
