Karmon Cooley, 21, died following a single-vehicle accident in Copiah County on Saturday night, officials reported. The crash occurred around 7:43 p.m. on Lilly Road when the 2004 Chevrolet Malibu he was riding in veered off the roadway and struck a ditch.

According to Sheriff Byron Swilley, Cooley was a passenger in the vehicle and was transported to Copiah County Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The driver, who is related to Cooley, has not been publicly identified, and their condition has not been released.

Authorities are actively investigating the circumstances that led to the fatal crash.
