Fatal Lower Southampton Township industrial accident death of John Iskra – Obituary

John Iskra, 68, a Levittown native and Neshaminy High School graduate, died last week after being pulled into a wood chipper while assisting a neighbor on Valley View Road in Lower Southampton Township.

Emergency responders were called to the scene around 4:41 p.m. on Monday after reports of an industrial rescue. Upon arrival, police discovered Iskra trapped in the machinery, and despite efforts, he succumbed to his injuries.

Iskra had extensive experience in landscaping, having owned his own business and previously worked at the U.S. Steel mill in Falls Township. He had also owned the wood chipper involved in the accident for many years.

Authorities, including the Bucks County Coroner’s Office, Lower Southampton and Penndel fire companies, and the Tri-Hampton Rescue Squad, investigated the incident. Chief of Police Ted Krimmel extended condolences to Iskra’s family.

In his obituary, Iskra was remembered for bringing joy and light to those around him. The family has requested that donations be made to the SPCA or Philabundance in his memory.
