Fatal Pitt County shooting death of Eric Ramone Horton Sr. – Obituary

Eric Ramone Horton Sr., 35, of Greenville, was killed Sunday night in a shooting along Martin Luther King Jr. Highway, authorities confirmed.

Pitt County deputies were dispatched around 8:25 p.m. on December 28 to the area near 5100 Martin Luther King Jr. Highway, close to Old Creek Road, after receiving a report of a man lying in a roadside ditch. Upon arrival, officers discovered Horton suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite emergency medical efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Major Crimes Unit and Forensic Services Unit of the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office are handling the ongoing investigation. Officials have not released further details but confirmed the case remains active.
