Fatal Needham house fire death of Kayla Corrigan – Obituary

Kayla Corrigan, 21, lost her life in a house fire on Woodworth Road in Needham, Massachusetts, on the morning of December 24. Authorities reported that the blaze originated in the rear section of an attached garage, though the exact cause remains undetermined.

Fire investigators noted several potential heat sources that could have fueled the fire. Neighbors told authorities that when they called 911, they did not hear any smoke or fire alarms from the home. Corrigan was found trapped on an upper floor and did not survive.

State Fire Marshal Jon Davin emphasized the importance of maintaining smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, noting that the tragedy has prompted renewed awareness about fire safety.

Kayla Corrigan, who had been preparing to graduate from Syracuse University, is being remembered by her sorority sisters for her warmth, humor, and selflessness. Newton Country Day School, her former high school, plans a prayer service in her memory next Sunday.
