Fatal Wilmington police shooting death of Matthew T. “Ty” Snook – Obituary

Matthew T. “Ty” Snook, 34, a Delaware State Police corporal and St. Mark’s High School alum from Hockessin, Delaware, was killed on December 23 while on duty at a Division of Motor Vehicles facility near Wilmington. Snook, a 10-year veteran of the force, was fatally shot by a male customer during an afternoon overtime assignment.

Authorities said Snook acted heroically, managing to push a DMV employee out of the line of fire before he was struck while sitting at a desk. Delaware State Police confirmed that the suspect, later identified as 44-year-old Rahman Rose of Wilmington, was shot and killed by responding officers.
