Matthew T. “Ty†Snook, 34, a Delaware State Police corporal and St. Mark’s High School alum from Hockessin, Delaware, was killed on December 23 while on duty at a Division of Motor Vehicles facility near Wilmington. Snook, a 10-year veteran of the force, was fatally shot by a male customer during an afternoon overtime assignment.
Authorities said Snook acted heroically, managing to push a DMV employee out of the line of fire before he was struck while sitting at a desk. Delaware State Police confirmed that the suspect, later identified as 44-year-old Rahman Rose of Wilmington, was shot and killed by responding officers.
Snook, remembered as a standout wrestler in high school and college, leaves behind his wife and a one-year-old daughter. His colleagues and community mourn the loss of a dedicated officer and courageous protector.
