Fatal Waterbury, Connecticut stabbing death of Ricardo Maldonado – Obituary
Ricardo Maldonado, 57, of Waterbury, Connecticut, was fatally stabbed on Saturday evening on Grove Street. Police responded around 7:17 p.m. to an apartment building in the 100 block after reports of a physical altercation involving weapons. Officers found Maldonado and 47-year-old Kendren Barnes with injuries from edged weapons.
Maldonado was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Barnes, also a Waterbury resident, was taken into custody and charged with murder. Authorities noted that Barnes has a history of violent offenses and frequent arrests. According to police, the altercation reportedly began when Maldonado was fighting with a woman in the apartment bathroom, prompting Barnes to intervene with a machete and knife.
Investigators are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact the Waterbury Police Detective Bureau or the anonymous Crime Stoppers tip line.
