Fatal Mercer Island, Washington shooting deaths of Danielle Cuvillier and Makenzie “Mack” Williams – Obituary

Authorities in King County have identified a mother and her adult son who were discovered dead inside a Mercer Island residence during a welfare check late last month. Investigators say the case remains under review as they work to fully understand the circumstances surrounding their deaths.

Officers with the Mercer Island Police Department were dispatched to a home in the 8400 block of Southeast 46th Street at approximately 10:45 a.m. on December 30. The request came after an attorney representing the homeowner contacted police about a troubling email that raised concerns about the well-being of the people inside the house.

When officers arrived at the scene, they looked through a window and noticed an individual inside who appeared to have suffered a gunshot wound. Police then entered the residence, where they located two deceased individuals. One was an elderly woman and the other a middle-aged man. Both had sustained fatal gunshot injuries, according to investigators.

Firearms were recovered inside the home and in close proximity to the victims. Based on early findings, police indicated the incident appeared to involve a homicide followed by a suicide. Officials emphasized there was no evidence suggesting any danger to the public.

On December 31, Mercer Island police formally released the identities of the victims. The woman was identified as 80-year-old Danielle Cuvillier, and the man as her 45-year-old son, Makenzie “Mack” Williams. Authorities said identification was confirmed through Washington state driver’s license records.

The investigation remains ongoing as officials continue to review evidence and circumstances related to the tragic deaths of the mother and son.
