Anthony Gallegos, 15, was fatally shot on New Year’s Eve in Clovis, New Mexico, after a gun discharged while juveniles were reportedly playing with firearms in a bedroom. Gallegos was transported to Plains Regional Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, where he later died.
Authorities have taken a 16-year-old male into custody in connection with the shooting. He faces charges including involuntary manslaughter, minor in possession of a handgun, tampering with evidence, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Clovis police previously sought the juveniles and the mother of one suspect, 41-year-old Monica Crisp, who has since been located.
