The loss has reopened deep wounds for the Gerwatowskis, who also buried their son nearly three decades ago. Linda Gerwatowski shared that her daughter became a vital source of strength for the family during that earlier tragedy, helping them endure an unimaginable time.

The family also spoke about a compassionate stranger who stopped at the scene of the crash before emergency crews arrived. That woman stayed with Hooper, held her hand, and contacted emergency services while Hooper drifted in and out of consciousness. Her presence, the family said, brought comfort during Jennifer’s final moments.

Knowing their daughter was not alone has offered some peace amid the heartbreak. Mike Gerwatowski said it meant a great deal to learn that someone cared enough to stay with her at the end.
