Fatal Pierce County, Washington police shooting death of LJ Causey – Obituary
LJ Causey, 32, was killed on December 29 during an encounter with Pierce County deputies in South Hill, Washington.
Deputies responded just after 2 a.m. to the 8500 block of 156th Street Court East following reports of a suspicious vehicle and a gunshot fired outside a nearby home. Causey, who was asleep in his truck at the time, was approached by deputies after probable cause was established to arrest him for felony harassment. Shots were fired during the interaction, and Causey was pronounced dead at the scene. No deputies were injured.
Causey’s longtime girlfriend, Lacey Alexander, described him as a devoted father of three who had worked to improve his life over the past 12 years. She said he deserved the chance to tell his side of the story and was committed to supporting his family. Causey had previous convictions, including a 2012 second-degree robbery charge and a vacated 2015 drug possession conviction.
The Pierce County Force Investigation Team is reviewing the shooting, and three deputies involved have been placed on administrative leave.
