WEIR — Authorities confirmed that 19-year-old Caden Yarbrough lost his life in an overnight shooting in Choctaw County.

Choctaw County Coroner Chris Coleman verified Yarbrough’s death on Thursday morning, and Weir Police Chief Dillion Cates later identified him as the victim.

Police said the incident took place shortly before midnight during a New Year’s Eve gathering outdoors on Thomas Circle Street. One person has been taken into custody in connection with the shooting, though officials stated the suspect’s identity will remain private until formal charges are filed.
