Burke County, North Carolina Man Bruce Alan Reed Arrested in Burke County for Christmas Day Knife Assault

BURKE COUNTY, NC — Bruce Alan Reed, a 38-year-old resident of Burke County, was arrested in Burke County in connection with a violent knife assault that occurred on Christmas Day.

According to the Burke County Sheriff’s Office, Reed was taken into custody on Thursday following an investigation that began after deputies responded to Catawba Valley Medical Center on Dec. 25, 2025. Authorities say the incident occurred earlier that day and involved a victim who suffered serious knife-related injuries.

Deputies reported observing deep lacerations on the victim, prompting medical staff to request an airlift to Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem due to the severity of the injuries. Investigators spoke with the victim, a witness identified as Storme Abee, and Reed during the investigation.

Reed was transported to the Burke County Detention Center and is currently facing a felony charge of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or inflict serious bodily injury. Court records show he was issued a $50,000 secured bond and is scheduled to return to court on Jan. 22, 2026.
