Sulphur, Louisiana Woman Kristin Bass Arrested in Calcasieu Parish for Infant Homicide

SULPHUR, LOUISIANA — Kristin Bass, a resident of Sulphur, was arrested in Calcasieu Parish in connection with the fatal shooting of her 1-year-old daughter on New Year’s Day.

According to the Sulphur Police Department, Bass was taken into custody on Wednesday evening after officers responded to a home just after 8 p.m. Authorities say the incident occurred inside the residence, where the child, identified as Acelynn Moss, suffered a gunshot wound. The child’s father reported hearing a loud noise and finding Bass holding a firearm moments later.

Acelynn Moss was pronounced dead from her injuries. Bass was transported to the Calcasieu Correctional Center and is currently facing a charge of first-degree murder. Bond was set at $10 million.
