Manhattan, Kansas Man Brian Lovgren Arrested in Manhattan for Armed Confrontation with Deputies
MANHATTAN, KANSAS — Brian Lovgren, a 38-year-old resident of Manhattan, was arrested in Manhattan in connection with an armed confrontation with law enforcement that occurred Saturday afternoon.
According to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI), Lovgren was taken into custody on Saturday during a response to reports of gunfire at a residence on Josie Lane. Authorities say the incident began just before 4 p.m. when deputies with the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office were investigating reports of a shed damaged by gunfire. While on scene, deputies heard additional shots in the area.
Investigators say deputies located Lovgren, who exited a home holding a handgun. During the encounter, one deputy fired multiple shots, striking Lovgren. He was transported to a local hospital, where he underwent surgery and remains in critical condition.
Lovgren was transported to a local detention facility and is currently facing charges related to the incident.
