Fatal Fort Worth, Texas park shooting death of Delante Washington – Obituary
Delante Washington, 35, was shot and killed at Lake Como Park in Fort Worth on New Year’s Eve, authorities reported.
According to an arrest affidavit, Fort Worth police responded around 6 p.m. on December 31 to a report at the 3400 block of Lake Como Drive. Officers found Washington on the floating bridge across the lake with multiple gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Alisha Browley, 29, who had been in a four-year relationship with Washington, was charged with murder. Witnesses said a heated argument occurred on the bridge, during which Washington struck Browley in the face and took her phone. Browley then reportedly pulled a pistol from her purse and fired at Washington while they stood at opposite ends of the bridge’s sitting area.
Browley remained at the scene and was later taken into custody. She is currently held in Tarrant County Jail with bond set at $250,000. Authorities noted that deadly force was used despite Browley not facing imminent harm at the time.
