Metro Nashville police are examining a deadly single-vehicle collision that occurred Sunday evening along Lebanon Pike. Authorities said a Chevrolet Silverado was traveling near the YMCA around 7 p.m. when it veered off the road.

Investigators reported that the truck left the pavement, dropped into a ditch, and then slammed into two trees. The driver, identified as 54-year-old Anthony Barret, was critically injured in the impact.

Barret was rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Officials noted that the Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct toxicology tests to determine whether impairment played any role in the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.
