Fatal Bay County, Michigan house fire death of Yolanda Ross – Obituary

Yolanda Ross, 80, lost her life following a devastating house fire that broke out in Bay County just hours after the New Year began. Yolanda Ross was critically injured in the blaze and later pronounced dead after being rushed to a nearby hospital.

The fire occurred shortly before 3 a.m. Friday at a residence in the 1100 block of West Townline 16 Road. Crews from the Mount Forest Township Fire Department arrived to find the home fully consumed by flames.

Emergency responders located Yolanda Ross alive but suffering from severe burn injuries. She was transported by ambulance for emergency medical care, but despite efforts to save her, she succumbed to her injuries a short time later.

As firefighters continued battling the fire with assistance from several neighboring departments, investigators later discovered the remains of her husband, Paul Ross, also 80, inside the home. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Michigan State Police Fire Investigation Unit is assisting local authorities in determining the origin of the fire. Officials stated that there is no indication of foul play or arson at this time, though the exact cause of the fire has not yet been identified.

The tragic incident has left the community mourning the loss of the longtime couple as investigators continue their work to understand what led to the fatal blaze.
