Donna Sybil Leach Codl, 80, of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, was killed in a serious traffic collision that occurred Saturday afternoon near Salado in Bell County. Donna Sybil Leach Codl was pronounced dead after suffering fatal injuries in the crash.

The collision happened around 4:32 p.m. on FM 2484, just west of FM 1670. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a 2017 Chevrolet pickup driven by a 16-year-old Salado resident was stopped on the westbound side of the roadway while preparing to turn south into a private drive.

Authorities said a 2020 Cadillac SUV, traveling eastbound, struck the pickup after the teen driver failed to yield the right of way. The impact caused the Cadillac to veer off the roadway and crash into a tree.

Donna Sybil Leach Codl, who was a passenger in the Cadillac, suffered critical injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials confirmed that her family has been notified of her death.

Both vehicle drivers were transported to local hospitals with injuries that were not considered life-threatening. A 15-year-old passenger riding in the Chevrolet was also taken for medical evaluation with minor injuries.

The investigation into the fatal crash remains ongoing, and officials stated that a finalized report will be released through Texas.gov once it is complete.
