Fatal Kansas City shooting death of De’Ontez K. Denson – Obituary

Kansas City police are investigating a homicide following a fatal shooting Sunday night at an apartment located in the 6400 block of Manchester Avenue. Officers responded to the scene just before 6:30 p.m. after receiving a report about a disturbance.

Upon arrival, authorities discovered the 28-year-old man, De’Ontez K. Denson, lying unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite attempts to administer life-saving measures, he was declared dead at the scene.

Investigators revealed that an adult male suspect was present in the apartment with Denson before the shooting. Police believe the two were familiar with each other and that an argument between them escalated into violence. The suspect fled the scene before officers arrived, but it remains unclear whether he left on foot or in a vehicle.

Detectives are canvassing the neighborhood in search of witnesses and surveillance footage to aid in their investigation.
