Fatal Gem County, Idaho plane crash death of Dallin Laufenberg – Obituary

Authorities have identified the second victim who lost his life in a small aircraft crash near Black Canyon in Gem County earlier this week as Dallin Laufenberg. Laufenberg, 26, died following the crash that occurred on Tuesday, January 27.

Gem County Coroner John Buck confirmed Laufenberg’s identity in a phone interview, stating that he succumbed to injuries sustained during the incident. The aircraft reportedly struck a power line before plunging into the Payette River, resulting in a fatal outcome for those on board.

The other passenger killed in the crash was previously identified as Roland Steadham, the chief meteorologist for CBS2. In the days following the accident, unverified information about the second victim circulated online before authorities officially confirmed Laufenberg’s identity.

The coroner noted that additional examination is still underway and did not release further details regarding Laufenberg’s official cause of death. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash remains ongoing.
