Authorities in Baytown have confirmed that Javier Serrato, 38, a local resident, was killed in a vehicle accident that took place Sunday morning.

According to police, the incident happened at approximately 11 a.m. near the intersection of East James Avenue and Kilgore Road. Officers responding to the scene discovered a 2014 Chevrolet Impala that had left the roadway and ended up submerged in a nearby bayou.

Serrato was identified as an occupant of the vehicle. He was pronounced dead as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.
