Fatal Macon County domestic shooting death of Lawrence Jackson – Obituary
Lawrence Jackson, 51, was shot and killed on January 23 in his Ethel, Missouri, home during an argument with 39-year-old Melinda Grigsby. He was pronounced dead at the scene after suffering a gunshot wound to the chest.
Authorities reported that the dispute began while Grigsby was preparing dinner and centered on content on Jackson’s cell phone. During the argument, Grigsby allegedly struck Jackson with a spatula, prompting him to place her in a headlock, which a minor present helped to break. The conflict continued in the living room, where Grigsby then retrieved a firearm from her purse, loaded additional ammunition, and followed Jackson into the master bedroom.
Court documents indicate that during the confrontation in the bedroom, Grigsby discharged the gun, striking Jackson in the chest. Deputies from the Macon County Sheriff’s Office responded shortly before 6 p.m. and confirmed Jackson’s death at the scene.
Grigsby has been charged with first-degree murder and is being held without bond at the Macon County Jail. Her next court appearance is scheduled for Monday.
