Terrance Jones, a resident of Adams County, Mississippi, was found dead Sunday after being reported missing earlier last week. Authorities confirmed his identity following the discovery of his body inside an abandoned residence.
The Adams County Sheriff’s Office reported that Jones was initially reported missing on January 26 by Claiborne County officials. Deputies responded to multiple addresses connected to Jones’ last known whereabouts before locating his body at 30 North Commerce Street Extension.
Deputies discovered Jones wrapped in blankets after noticing a strong odor coming from the abandoned home. A wallet found at the scene confirmed his identity. The Adams County Criminal Investigations Unit and coroner took custody of the body, which has been sent to the Mississippi Crime Laboratory for further examination.
Sheriff Travis Patten stated that no signs of foul play are immediately apparent, but a full forensic investigation is ongoing. Officials have classified the case as a death investigation as authorities work to determine the cause of death.
