Fatal Spartanburg County, South Carolina shooting death of Skyy Ernestasjah Logan – Obituary
Authorities have confirmed that a young woman lost her life following a shooting incident Tuesday night in Spartanburg County. The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office reported that 21-year-old Skyy Ernestasjah Logan succumbed to injuries after being shot.
Deputies responded shortly after 9 p.m. to a residence on Farm Creek Road in Inman following reports of what was initially described as an accidental discharge of a firearm. When law enforcement arrived, they discovered Logan suffering from a gunshot wound to her torso. She was transported to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, where she later passed away around 11 p.m.
Investigators initially received information indicating that the firearm had been negligently discharged by 19-year-old Jayvion Nyrek Rice while he was inside the home. However, further examination of the evidence and investigative findings contradicted the original explanation provided to deputies.
Following the investigation, Rice was charged with murder as well as possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. He was taken into custody shortly after 1 a.m. Wednesday and remains detained at the Spartanburg County Detention Center while awaiting a bond hearing.
Officials stated that the case is still under active investigation. Authorities are urging anyone with additional details about the shooting to contact Sgt. Will Ussery with the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office.
