Fatal Hanover pedestrian car crash death of Benjamin Kirchmyer – Obituary

Benjamin Kirchmyer, a 53-year-old man from Franklin, Massachusetts, was killed early Thursday morning after being struck by a vehicle on Aviation Boulevard in Hanover, authorities said. Anne Arundel County Police confirmed the deadly incident occurred shortly before 1 a.m.

Officers were called to the intersection of Aviation Boulevard and Amtrak Way around 12:50 a.m. after receiving reports of a pedestrian involved in a crash. Investigators determined that a 1998 Honda Civic traveling northbound on Aviation Boulevard hit Kirchmyer while he was walking in the roadway.

Fire department crews arrived at the scene and pronounced Kirchmyer dead. Police said the driver of the vehicle, a 43-year-old man from Baltimore, was not injured in the crash.

The Anne Arundel County Police Department’s Crash Reconstruction Team is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
