Daniel S. Bouverette, 43, of Bad Axe, was found dead early Sunday morning in a single-vehicle crash on Elkton Road at its intersection with Etzler Road in Lake Township. Authorities reported that the pickup truck he was driving left the roadway and struck a tree, and Bouverette was discovered inside with a gunshot wound to the head.

The Huron County Sheriff’s Office, along with Caseville Police and emergency responders, arrived at the scene after two motorists reported the wreck. Bouverette was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators believe the crash may have been a suicide, with the vehicle reportedly traveling at high speed prior to striking the tree.

The victim’s 2021 Chevrolet pickup and personal belongings were collected as part of the ongoing investigation.
