Andrew Strand, 34, was discovered dead inside a trash compactor at a CVS store in Shaker Heights, Ohio, where he had been performing contract work.

Authorities said Strand’s wife reported him missing around 10 p.m. Wednesday after not hearing from him. Using his phone’s location, she traced him to the CVS on Chagrin Boulevard, prompting officers to search the property. Strand was found deceased inside a trash compactor at the rear of the building.

Shaker Heights police Commander John Cole expressed condolences to Strand’s family and friends. The Cuyahoga County medical examiner is conducting an investigation to determine the cause and manner of death. CVS has stated it is cooperating fully with the authorities.
