Fatal Phelan car crash death of Adam Sanchez and Adrianna Sanchez – Obituary

Adam Sanchez, 18, and his sister Adrianna Sanchez, 25, both residents of Victorville, lost their lives in a devastating two-vehicle collision that ended in flames along Highway 18 in Phelan.

Authorities said the crash happened just before 7 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 23, near Shandin Road, when a vehicle traveling eastbound crossed into oncoming traffic and struck the Sanchez siblings’ car head-on. Both Adam and Adrianna died at the scene, along with the driver of the other vehicle, who has not yet been publicly identified.

Due to the intense fire that followed the impact, officials said formal identification of the victims took approximately two weeks. The California Highway Patrol and the San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office later confirmed the victims as the Victorville brother and sister.

Investigators reported that Adrianna Sanchez was driving westbound in a Tesla Model Y, with her brother Adam as a passenger. The opposing vehicle, a Cadillac CTS, was traveling east when it suddenly veered into the westbound lane, directly into the path of the Tesla.

Both vehicles burst into flames after the collision, leaving no survivors. The exact reason the Cadillac crossed into oncoming traffic remains under investigation.

In the days following the crash, family members shared a statement through an online fundraiser created to assist with funeral and memorial costs. They described Adam and Adrianna as beloved siblings whose lives were taken unexpectedly and through no fault of their own, expressing gratitude for the support and compassion shown by the community.

The fundraiser has raised more than $37,000 to help ease the financial burden during the family’s time of mourning.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing. Anyone who witnessed the collision or has relevant information is urged to contact the California Highway Patrol’s Victorville Area Office.
