Edward Sparrow, 22, was found dead Monday following a single-vehicle crash on a steep hillside in Kennedy, authorities said. Sparrow had been a suspect in a shooting Saturday night on Jane Street in McKees Rocks that left a woman critically injured.

Allegheny County Police reported that officers first responded Saturday evening to a 911 call about a car crash on Langer Way. When they arrived, they discovered a damaged vehicle but no occupant. A witness later saw a man matching Sparrow’s description jump over a guardrail, and his body was recovered nearby two days later.

The victim of the McKees Rocks shooting was taken to the hospital in critical but stable condition. The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office will formally identify Sparrow’s body, and detectives are coordinating with local fire departments for the recovery process.
