Fatal Ontario County crash death of Edwin C. Montanez – Obituary
Edwin C. Montanez, 47, of Syracuse, lost his life in a two-vehicle collision in Ontario County over the weekend, officials reported. The incident occurred shortly after 1:10 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 7, along Route 14A near Hastings Road in the town of Seneca.
According to New York State Police, a southbound vehicle veered into the northbound lane and struck a pickup truck traveling in the opposite direction. Dangerous winter conditions, including blowing snow and extreme cold, contributed to the hazardous road conditions.
Montanez, a passenger in the car, was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other passengers, both from Syracuse—James L. Bush, 45, the driver, and James L. Bush, 39, a fellow passenger—suffered serious injuries and were taken to Strong Memorial Hospital for care.
The pickup truck driver, a 30-year-old man from Wayne County, received treatment at the scene and was released. Montanez’s body was transported to the Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.
