Michael Johnson dies in fatal Reno, Nevada police shooting

Fatal Reno, Nevada police shooting death of Michael Johnson – Obituary

Michael Johnson, 27, who was reportedly homeless, was shot and killed by Reno police officers on Feb. 3 on the Wells Avenue bridge near downtown Reno. The Washoe County coroner confirmed that Johnson died from multiple gunshot wounds.

Police responded just before 4 p.m. to a welfare check and engaged with Johnson for several minutes before the shooting occurred. One officer sustained injuries during the incident but has since been released from the hospital.

The circumstances leading to the shooting remain under investigation, which has been taken over by the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office in accordance with regional protocol.
