Five people lost their lives in a shooting early Saturday morning in the Seth Ward neighborhood of Hale County, Texas. The incident occurred around 3:40 a.m. on the 2700 block of Upchurch, prompting the Texas Rangers to assist the Hale County Sheriff’s Office with the investigation.
Among those killed at the scene were 28-year-old Hector Alonso Sanchez, 30-year-old Tanya Paola Valadez Rangel, 47-year-old Rosalba Saenz Rodriguez, and 33-year-old Saul Villa, who authorities identified as the shooter. A fifth victim, 21-year-old Reily Joseph Zavala Barrientos, died later at Covenant Hospital-Plainview.
Plainview Independent School District expressed condolences to the families and community, acknowledging the tragedy and urging patience as authorities continue to investigate. Officials have confirmed there is no ongoing threat to the public, and the Texas Rangers are actively pursuing all leads related to the case.
