Fatal West Columbia, South Carolina shooting death of Hoyt Mitchell Jennings – Obituary

Hoyt Mitchell Jennings, 47, of Columbia, South Carolina, was shot and killed Sunday afternoon outside a residence on the 100 block of Villa Court, near Emanuel Church Road in West Columbia. Lexington County deputies responded to the scene around 4:40 p.m. and found Jennings with a fatal gunshot wound to the upper body.

Authorities have detained one individual in connection with the shooting. Investigators have indicated that there is no ongoing threat to the public. The Lexington County Coroner’s Office and Sheriff’s Department are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding Jennings’ death.
