Alissa Jenay Jarvis dies in fatal Columbia County car crash
Fatal Columbia County crash death of Alissa Jenay Jarvis – Obituary
Alissa Jenay Jarvis, 23, of Astoria, Oregon, was killed Monday evening in a head-on collision on Highway 30 near Rainier, officials with the Oregon State Police reported.
The incident occurred shortly before 7 p.m. near milepost 51, close to the Lewis and Clark Bridge. According to authorities, Lorenza Gaspar-Mateo, 34, of Longview, Washington, was driving a Chevy Tahoe eastbound when the vehicle crossed into oncoming lanes and collided directly with Jarvis’s Subaru Crosstrek.
Jarvis died at the scene, while Gaspar-Mateo was transported to a hospital with serious injuries. Oregon State Police indicated that impairment and failure to maintain lane control were primary factors in the crash.
The collision caused Highway 30 to be closed for approximately five hours while troopers, assisted by the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, Columbia River Fire, and ODOT, conducted their investigation.
