Fatal Kent stabbing death of Edivier Jesus Duran Leal – Obituary

Edivier Jesus Duran Leal, 27, was killed in a stabbing at an apartment complex on West Hill in Kent, according to the King County Medical Examiner’s Office, which confirmed his death as a homicide. The incident occurred early Saturday morning, Feb. 7, at a complex located in the 25700 block of 27th Place South, just east of Pacific Highway South.

Kent police responded around 12:34 a.m. to a 911 call about an unwanted person at the apartment complex. Upon arrival, officers found Leal in the parking lot, bleeding heavily and conscious but unable to speak. An officer immediately began life-saving measures and applied a chest seal to control the bleeding before medics transported him to a nearby hospital, where he later died during surgery.

Investigators spoke with multiple residents at the complex and indicated that initial evidence points to the incident being isolated. Authorities are asking anyone who witnessed the stabbing or has information about the suspect to contact the Kent Police Tip Line at 253-856-5808 or email [email protected]. Those with knowledge of the suspect’s location should call 911.

This is the second homicide reported in Kent for 2026.
