Fatal San Diego County traffic crash deaths of Gabriel Gutierrez, Laqwente Bryant, Jordan Blechertas, Benshan Robinson, and Mario Muniz – Obituary
Authorities in San Diego County have confirmed the identities of five people who lost their lives in separate traffic collisions over a four-day period, according to the county Medical Examiner’s Office.
The most recent incident occurred just after 12:30 p.m. Saturday in Fallbrook. Gabriel Gutierrez, 20, was riding a motorcycle on De Luz Road at Dos Cameos Drive when he collided with a sport utility vehicle. Emergency responders transported Gutierrez, a Fallbrook resident, to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido, where he was later pronounced dead.
Earlier on Saturday morning, Laqwente Bryant, 41, of San Diego, was struck by a vehicle in the Pacific Beach area. The collision happened around 2 a.m. on Garnet Avenue near Gresham Street. Bryant was taken to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries shortly afterward.
Late Friday night, a westbound vehicle struck Jordan Blechertas, 40, on State Route 78 near Birch Avenue in Escondido. Blechertas, who lived in Escondido, was transported by ambulance to a hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
Several hours before that crash, Benshan Robinson, 27, of San Diego, was hit by a vehicle on West Mission Road near North Las Posas Road in San Marcos. Robinson was pronounced dead at the scene.
The earliest fatal crash in this series occurred shortly before 9:30 p.m. Wednesday. Mario Muniz, 54, was struck by a northbound van on Interstate 5 near Sixth Avenue in the Balboa Park area. Muniz died at the scene, and officials did not release his place of residence.
Investigations into all five crashes remain ongoing.
