Fatal Hidalgo County shooting death of Rodrigo Arjona – Obituary

Rodrigo Arjona, 29, was found dead inside a Monte Alto residence Wednesday after a confrontation with the homeowner. According to the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office, Jose Lara, 33, called 911 reporting that he had shot Arjona after the man brandished a knife.

Deputies responding to the 8200 block of Trimble Avenue confirmed Arjona’s death at the scene. Lara was later arrested on a separate drug charge, facing possession of a controlled substance, and his bond was set at $50,000. Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
