Danny Torrez II, 40, was killed in a hit-and-run collision while riding his scooter early Sunday morning in East Los Angeles. The crash occurred around 2:30 a.m. on Whittier Boulevard near Ferris Avenue, authorities said.

The California Highway Patrol reported that the vehicle involved was a gray sedan, but no further details about the driver have been released. Torrez’s mother, Eva Dominguez, made a heartfelt plea for the driver to come forward, describing her son as a cheerful, family-oriented security guard whose death has left the family heartbroken.

“He was a human being,” Dominguez said. “They left him as if he was nothing. I just want justice for my son.”

A GoFundMe page has been set up to assist the family with funeral expenses. Investigators continue to search for the driver, and the family urges anyone with information to contact the CHP. Dominguez emphasized the importance of accountability, asking, “What if that had happened to one of your loved ones and no one stopped?”
