Fatal Cleveland, Ohio shooting death of Vasyl Shvets – Obituary

Cleveland authorities say Vasyl Shvets, 27, of Parma, lost his life after a violent early-morning incident that ended with his vehicle crashing in the city’s Fairfax neighborhood. Officers responding to the area of East 84th Street found Shvets slumped over the steering wheel of his car, which had struck a dumpster. Investigators later confirmed that he had been shot.

The shooting and crash were reported at approximately 1:10 a.m., according to police. Shvets was transported to University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

His death came less than two days after another fatal shooting involving a rideshare driver in the city. On Sunday night around 9:50 p.m., police were called to the Rosehill Avenue area near East 103rd Street, where they found a vehicle that had crashed into a guardrail. The driver, identified as 56-year-old Antoine Latham of Cleveland, had also been shot and later died at the hospital.

Cleveland police have not announced any arrests related to either killing. Investigators have not said whether the shootings were connected or if the drivers were specifically targeted. The cases remain under active investigation.
