Authorities in Sharkey County have identified Randolph Haley Jr., 40, as the man whose remains were discovered in the Delta National Forest more than a year ago, bringing new clarity to a long-running investigation.

According to officials, the discovery was made in November 2024 when two hunters encountered a remote campsite roughly four miles from Dummy Line Road. After noticing a strong odor in the area, they investigated further and found skeletal remains nearby.

Law enforcement was immediately notified, and a homicide investigation was opened following the discovery. The remains were later examined as part of the ongoing case.

On February 11, 2026, Sharkey County Coroner Robert Barfield confirmed the remains belonged to Randolph Haley Jr. Investigators have not released additional details regarding the circumstances surrounding his death, and the case remains under investigation.
