Authorities have identified the man fatally shot in Winston-Salem on Tuesday as 23-year-old Taliek D’Monte Pettus.

Police reported that family members brought Pettus to a hospital around 10:30 p.m., but he was pronounced dead from his injuries. According to law enforcement, the shooting occurred on Laguna Avenue after a gathering escalated.

A 15-year-old boy and a 16-year-old boy have been arrested and charged with felony murder in connection to Pettus’ death, with the courts set to decide whether the younger teen will face adult charges. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting remains ongoing.
