Fatal DeKalb County police pursuit crash death of Terry Lowman – Obituary

Terry Lowman, 59, of Decatur, was killed Thursday night after being struck by a vehicle fleeing from police in DeKalb County, Georgia. The fatal incident occurred along Candler Road during an active law enforcement pursuit.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, DeKalb County police were pursuing a black Mercedes-Benz sedan southbound on Candler Road on February 12 when the driver moved into the center turn lane and hit Lowman with the front of the vehicle. The driver did not stop and continued traveling south, eventually escaping the pursuing officer’s view.

Lowman was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities said the Georgia State Patrol was asked to take over the investigation into the crash. The case remains under investigation as officials work to locate the fleeing driver.
