Fatal Kent park drug overdose death of Joleen Marie Figuracion – Obituary

Joleen Marie Figuracion, a 48‑year‑old woman from Renton, was found deceased on Feb. 11 in Kaibara Park in downtown Kent, and medical officials have ruled her passing the result of an accidental drug overdose. The King County Medical Examiner’s Office reported that acute intoxication, including fentanyl, was the cause of her death.

Kent Police initially responded to the half‑acre park near First Avenue North and West Meeker Street early that morning after a 911 call about two unresponsive individuals. When officers and Puget Sound Fire crews arrived, they administered life‑saving aid to Figuracion, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 53‑year‑old man from Renton found nearby also suffered a head injury and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Police had first treated the situation as potential foul play because of the injuries observed.

Officials continue to piece together the events that led up to the discovery, and investigators encourage anyone with information to contact authorities.
