Fatal Victorville crash death of Roman Veloza Panitan Sr. – Obituary

Roman Veloza Panitan Sr., 92, of Victorville, was killed in a vehicle collision on El Evado Road last week. The incident took place on February 7, 2026, around 7:17 p.m., when a gold Jeep Grand Cherokee struck two pedestrians walking along the right shoulder north of Dos Palmas Road.

Emergency responders from the California Highway Patrol Victorville Area and Victorville City Fire Department arrived at the scene, where Panitan was pronounced dead. A second pedestrian, an Asian woman, sustained serious injuries and was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital; her current condition has not been updated.

The Jeep driver, a Black male adult, stayed at the scene and cooperated with authorities. Preliminary reports indicate that alcohol or drugs were not involved. The CHP Victorville Area office is conducting the investigation and is requesting anyone with information to contact Officer A. Carrasco at (760) 241-1186.
