Authorities have identified 37-year-old Ryan Darrell Holland as the suspect in a Saturday shooting at the Columbiana Villas that left a police officer injured. The incident began when officers arrived at the complex off Highway 25 to perform a wellness check and were fired upon by Holland, prompting a return of gunfire.

One officer sustained minor injuries and was treated at a hospital before being released. The suspect fled briefly into an apartment but was detained safely around 4:30 p.m. the same day without further injuries. Holland was booked into the Shelby County Jail and faces charges including two counts of aggravated assault and discharging a firearm into an occupied building.

Multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Columbiana Police Department, Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, Alabaster Police Department, and Tactical Response Unit, assisted in resolving the situation. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
