Trey Johnson dies in fatal LaPlace shooting

Fatal LaPlace shooting death of Trey Johnson – Obituary

Trey Johnson, 32, of LaPlace, was killed early Sunday morning in a shooting on North Sugar Ridge Drive, while another individual was injured.

The St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office reported the shooting occurred around 12:45 a.m. Deputies arriving at the scene found Johnson wounded on the ground and immediately transported him to a hospital, where he later died. The second victim was also taken to a hospital in a private vehicle.

Investigators identified 33-year-old Andrew Brown as the suspect. Brown was arrested later Sunday morning and charged with second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder. He is being held at the Lt. Sherman Walker Correctional Facility on a $1.25 million bond. Authorities have not disclosed a motive for the shooting.
