Fatal Greene County car crash death of Brandon M. Koontz – Obituary
Brandon M. Koontz, 39, of Crane, lost his life early Sunday morning following a single-vehicle crash along Interstate 69 in Greene County, Indiana.
According to the Indiana State Police, troopers were dispatched around 4:30 a.m. on March 8 after receiving reports of a truck overturned in the median of the southbound lanes of I-69 in Springville, just south of Bloomington.
Investigators said Koontz had been driving the truck when it left the roadway and struck a ditch located in the center median. The impact caused the vehicle to become airborne before it began to roll multiple times and eventually came to a stop.
During the crash, Koontz was ejected from the truck and was discovered in the median approximately 50 feet away from where the vehicle finally rested.
Emergency personnel from Greene County EMS and local firefighters responded to the incident. Authorities from the Greene County Sheriff’s Department and the Greene County Coroner’s Office also assisted at the scene.
Officials stated that toxicology tests are still pending as investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
