Fatal Tooele County, Utah car crash death of Robert Chato Rainwater – Obituary

Authorities have identified 66-year-old Robert Chato Rainwater of Tooele as the driver killed in a collision on Wednesday near Erda, Utah.

The crash occurred around 9:47 a.m. at the intersection of Parachute Parklane and State Route 179. Rainwater was driving a silver Chevrolet Corvette westbound toward Grantsville when the vehicle turned in front of a blue Freightliner semi (tractor only). The semi struck the Corvette on the driver’s side.

Rainwater’s passenger, 65-year-old Alan Boyd Anderson of Tooele, also died at the scene. The driver of the semi sustained minor injuries and was taken to a hospital.

State Route 179 was closed at the intersection during the investigation, with eastbound traffic rerouted onto Parachute Parklane and Pole Canyon Road. The circumstances of the crash remain under investigation.
