Authorities have identified 47-year-old Victor L. Craighead of Harrisville, New York, as the suspect who was killed during a shootout with law enforcement in the town of Diana. Craighead reportedly exited his home at 7654 Alpine Road armed with a long gun and fired at responding officers.

Trooper Timothy Dovi of the New York State Police, assigned to the Special Operations Response Team, returned fire with his division-issued firearm, fatally striking Craighead. Trooper Dovi was not injured and is currently on critical incident leave.

Multiple body-worn cameras recorded the encounter, though footage has not been released due to the ongoing investigation. Autopsies on two other bodies discovered in burned vehicles nearby are scheduled at the Broome County Medical Examiner’s Office, with positive identifications pending. Authorities continue to investigate the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
